Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 May 2025
1. Who We Are
CelerisTV is a generic media player application developed and distributed by Abdallah Chaouby ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy can be sent to celerisldigital@gmail.com.
2. What We Collect and Why
We collect the minimum data necessary to provide a persistent, device-linked free trial.
2a. Device Identifier
On first launch we read a unique hardware/OS identifier from your device using the Capacitor Device API (equivalent to Android Settings.Secure.ANDROID_ID). This identifier:
- Is stored locally in the app's private storage (
sv_device_id). - Is transmitted to Google Firebase Realtime Database (hosted in the United States) and stored at the path
trials/<device_id>alongside your trial start timestamp. - Is used solely to prevent the free trial from resetting when you reinstall the app.
- Is never linked to your name, email, IP address, or any other personally identifiable information.
2b. Trial Start Date
The date and time you first launched the app (as a Unix timestamp in milliseconds) is stored:
- Locally on your device (
sv_trial_startin app storage). - In Firebase Realtime Database at
trials/<device_id>.
This data is used only to calculate how many days remain in your 60-day free trial.
2c. Temporary Playlist Sessions
When you add a media source, a short-lived session token may be written to Firebase Realtime Database to synchronise loading state. This data does not include the full source URL or credentials and is deleted automatically once the session ends.
2d. Media Sources (local only)
Any URLs, addresses, or credentials you enter to add a media source are stored exclusively on your device. They are never transmitted to our servers or any third party controlled by us.
3. What We Do Not Collect
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- Viewing history, watch data, or playback analytics
- IP address or precise location data
- The full content of media sources you add
- Any data from third-party content providers you connect
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your device identifier and trial date is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): specifically, to provide a reinstall-proof trial entitlement that is technically necessary to operate the free distribution model. We have conducted a balancing test and concluded this processing does not override your interests or fundamental rights, given the pseudonymous nature of the data and the limited purpose for which it is used.
You may object to this processing at any time — see Section 7 (Your Rights) below.
5. Data Transfers
Firebase Realtime Database is operated by Google LLC and data is stored on servers in the United States. Google participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and provides appropriate safeguards under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers from the EEA. For more information see Google Firebase Privacy and Security.
6. Retention
Your device identifier and trial start date are retained in Firebase for as long as you use the app, or for a maximum of 12 months after your last recorded activity, whichever is earlier, after which they are deleted. Local app storage is cleared when you uninstall the app.
7. Your Rights
Under GDPR (and equivalent laws where applicable) you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about your device.
- Erasure — request deletion of your device entry from Firebase.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Restriction — ask us to restrict processing while a complaint is resolved.
To exercise any of these rights, email celerisldigital@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within 30 days. Because device identifiers are pseudonymous, we may ask you to provide your device ID (visible in the app's About screen) to locate your record.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
8. Children
CelerisTV is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the relevant record.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
10. Contact
